John J. Weinfurter

John Weinfurter helped form KSCW, Inc. as a principal in June 2003 after spending six years as President and CEO of the Congressional Economic Leadership Institute (CELI). In the course of his tenure as CELI President, Mr. Weinfurter scripted over 200 sessions in the US Senate and House, bringing CEOs, foreign heads of state, parliamentary delegations, authors, economists, cabinet secretaries, regulatory agency heads, and others to CELI forums. Through funding from a mixture of foundations, corporate offices and trade associations, he doubled CELI’s membership base in the course of his tenure. Weinfurter also authored and implemented a travel program, leading delegations of Members of Congress, Congressional staff, and corporate representatives to Asia, Europe, South America, and throughout the US, giving them a window to economic development around the world.

Prior to his CELI position, Mr. Weinfurter spent 20 years as Chief of Staff to the late US Rep. John Joseph Moakley (D-Ma), who served in Congress from 1973-2001 and as Chairman of the US House of Representatives Committee on Rules from 1988-1994. During his time on Capitol Hill, Weinfurter served as Chairman Moakley’s principal liaison to House Leadership through five presidential administrations and to the corporate and professional communities of Boston and Washington.

Mr. Weinfurter works on a wide range of issues, including defense, national intelligence, homeland security, appropriations and oversight, technology, intellectual property, education, small business, transportation, energy and the environment, financial services, banking, ways and means, and taxes. Recent projects he has worked on include securing educational appropriations, assisting small businesses to procure federal agency contracts, and aiding defense technology firms in receiving federal funding for research.

Mr. Weinfurter is also the current President of the House Chiefs of Staff Alumni Association, a group that brings together former House Chiefs of Staff for networking events and presentations on current events by speakers such as Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, ABC News Chief White House Correspondent Martha Raddatz, and political pundit James Carville.
